The potential for The Community Energy Lab was first made apparent through a series of explorative environmentally-friendly retrofits on the centre’s buildings undertaken by a group of young volunteers at the Selby Centre.
The volunteers soon realised that this presented an exciting opportunity for a hands-on, educational programme; a programme dedicated to the training of unskilled young people. This programme would provide these beneficiaries with a pathway into learning and employment while promoting energy-efficient and sustainable construction methods.
